Farm Brewing

Dedicated to handcrafted brew, made fresh…

The history of American hops farming in Otsego County is legendary. Red Shed brewery is located in an old milk house in the hills around Cherry Valley with a historic hop house in our view.

Red Shed Brewery is returning to craft brewing at its roots; the brew was freshly made, with care and the brewer and his best company pedaled the beer locally, tap room to tap room. A simple thing: local, handcrafted, fresh. We buy 80% of the ingredients from farmers in New York State, not because we have to but because we want to. Fresh brew, handcrafted locally, available around the corner.

Red Shed’s Local Ingredients

As a NY State farm brewery, Red Shed is required to use primarily NY state hops and grains:

> Until the end of 2018, at least 20% of the hops and 20% of all other ingredients must be grown in New York State.

> From January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2023, no less than 60% of the hops and 60% of all other ingredients must be grown in NY State.

> From January 1, 2024, no less than 90% of the hops and 90% of all other ingredients must be grown in NY State.

In 2018, Red Shed will be using 100% NY State hops for the current beer portfolio.
